When outpatient isn’t enough

If you or a loved one are seeking residential care for depression, know that you are making a significant step. Taking this rather challenging leap shows you are strong and proactive. If you’re looking into residential treatment, chances are that you want more structured care.

It’s important to ask specific questions when looking for the right residential treatment for you. You deserve a residential treatment for depression that is nurturing and provides therapeutic support.

What is residential treatment for depression?

You may be wondering, what does Residential Treatment (RTC) really look like at Lightfully? At Lightfully, RTC lasts for around 30 days. Included in the program are once-a-week meetings with a psychiatrist, and weekly sessions with a therapist. We take pride in providing our clients with high-quality clinical treatments in an environment where they feel understood and accepted. Lightfully separates itself from competitors by providing a uniquely compassionate and evidence-based Residential Treatment program.

At Lightfully, RTC is a step up beyond other programs, such as our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). While all levels of care help our clients learn the skills they need to better manage their symptoms through our Precision Care Model (PCM), RTC provides 24/7 behavioral and medical care.

5 questions to ask yourself before choosing a residential program

When exploring different residential treatment programs, it can feel overwhelming to find one that checks all of your boxes. We encourage you to advocate for yourself in this process— it’s your mental health after all!

Ask as many questions as you need to in order to feel comfortable, and don’t be afraid to ask boldly. The right questions can help lead you to the right help. Below, we explore some of the best questions to ask yourself when looking for a residential treatment for depression.

  • How is the treatment personalized for each client?

At Lightfully, our clinical model is our Precision Care Model (PCM). The benefits of this care model is a more personalized, comprehensive mental health treatment plan that’s designed specifically to meet your needs.

Each one of our clients is a human being first, not a human being represented by their diagnosis. We treat the whole person. Because of this, all of our programs are not only compassionate, but fully customizable, and designed specifically for you.

  • What types of therapy are included?

Our PCM utilizes various types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). We integrate evidence-based approaches that are both somatic and compassion based to target the drivers behind mental health disorders and symptoms.

  • What does the daily schedule look like?

At Lightfully, our RTC program includes support and care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a beautiful, home-based setting. Our team of exceptionally trained, and deeply compassionate experts will help you focus on your treatment and mental health needs in a supportive and relaxing space.

The schedule for our RTC includes up to five daily group sessions. Throughout the week, you’ll have three individual therapy sessions as well as a session for family therapy and psychiatry. We also provide weekly outings and on-site yoga.

  • Is there a transition plan for after discharge?

Here at Lightfully, we provide each of our clients with aftercare support, which includes monthly communications with support, tips, and resources, following a client’s discharge from one of our programs. We also encourage our discharged clients to get connected with our alumni and community support groups of previous clients.

  • What role does compassion and human connection play?

We also utilize a trauma-informed approach to our care which both acknowledges and recognizes the existence of trauma and its potential impact on our client’s lives. Our trauma-informed care is based on six key principles which include:

    1. Safety
    2. Trustworthiness and transparency
    3. Peer support
    4. Collaboration
    5. Empowerment
