What Is Generalized Anxiety Disorder?
Stress is a fairly routine part of everyday life. However, when stress becomes overwhelming and begins to impair one’s ability to function and maintain relationships it might reflect a mental health issue known as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or Anxiety. Anxiety (GAD) is characterized by chronic stress and worrying excessively, especially when overwhelming concern is unwarranted. Anxiety can result in panic attacks, avoidance of social interactions and a general lack of emotional tolerance for everyday activities and interactions. Anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental health issues in the United States and encompasses Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Phobias, among others.
