SAN DIEGO, (APRIL 11, 2022) – Newly launched health care startup, Lightfully Behavioral Health, a rapidly growing mental health treatment provider, will open its newest facility in Carlsbad, Calif., on April 18, its first location of 6 it plans to open in San Diego County in the next year.

The Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based company seeks to increase access to its high-quality primary mental health care services through its ‘Process Based Therapy’ (PBT) clinical model, which is grounded in addressing the whole person and their core challenges, while meticulously tracking results for measurable outcomes.

“With some 1 in 5 US adults experiences mental illness, Lightfully is committed to addressing the country’s explosive rates of mental illness and rising levels of acuity for those who already had mental illness,” said Jennifer Steiner, CEO of Lightfully Behavioral Health. “By providing access to world-class clinicians in beautiful and welcoming environments, we want to be catalysts for improving the public perception of what it means to seek mental health care services.”

The initial Carlsbad facility is a 6-bed residential treatment center for adults that will begin accepting clients April 18. Additional facilities for adults include a 35-slot partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) opening in June and another 6-bed residential center in January 2023. Lightfully Behavioral Health will be adding adolescent programming in the San Diego community with two 6-bed residentials and a 35-slot partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) opening in August and October of this year, wrapping up in March of 2023.

Lightfully was founded by health care veteran executive Jennifer Steiner and four other female industry experts with more than 70 years of combined experience launching and scaling behavioral health businesses. Lightfully opened 3 mental health facilities in Los Angeles in March of 2022 and will open a total of 18 facilities in California markets in the coming 18

months, including those in Carlsbad, Thousand Oaks, Los Angeles, and San Jose areas. It plans to hire more than 190 staff members in the next year.

“With the increased national demand for mental health treatment, the industry is suffering from a lack of qualified therapists,” added Steiner. “Lightfully will address the supply shortage by offering a dynamic and inspiring work culture and industry-leading benefits packages for its clinicians while delivering a robust and comprehensive clinical training curriculum for its clinical teams.”

Its unique PBT model helps individuals whose depression, anxiety, personality disorder, PTSD and other trauma-related disorders disrupts their daily life. The San Diego area currently lacks a variety of choices, as mental health services in the region are more focused on addiction and eating disorders, and not the more common mid-acuity primary mental health issues like anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, depression, and trauma.

Lightfully will provide a variety of treatment options to offer ample access to the right kind of mental health care for the individual’s mental wellness — spanning residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and virtual levels of care. Lightfully believes accountability is critical and will focus on measurable indicators of outcomes to ensure that every client continually benefits from the treatment and care they receive.
