Casey Weitzman, LMFT
Expertise: LGBTQ/Transgender

Casey is the Founder/Director of Gender Wellness of Los Angeles and has been a licensed marriage and family therapist for nearly 30 years, counseling children and adults who are exploring gender identity and/or sexual orientation issues.

In addition to working one-on-one with her clients, she may work with their support systems, including their partner, spouse, parents, employer, or friends. She is also an active member of WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender Health), CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists), and AAMFT (American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists).

She started as a film major at UCSB, but after 5 years in that industry she realized her heart wasn’t in it. She then decided to go to therapy school and started her career in the foster care system. She ended up working as the director of foster care at an agency where babies and children were placed with gay and lesbian parents.

We all share a desire to fit in and to be accepted by our peers or society at-large. It becomes critical, though, that we address our self-acceptance first. When we learn to accept ourselves, it becomes an easier journey to ask others to accept us in return. Oftentimes, our own self-judgments hold us back from living a full and authentic life.

Casey lives with her wife, Lynda, in Sherman Oaks with their dog Ricky and cats Sandy and Lucy. She loves competitive tennis and Peloton.
