What Is Complicated Grief?
How Can Complicated Grief Impact Your Life?
Someone who is experiencing complicated grief might find they are struggling to carry out daily activities and tend to isolate themselves from family and friends. There is often deep sadness, guilt, and self-blame present. Some individuals may feel as if their life is not worth living as a result of the loss, which can result in thoughts of suicide.
What Are The Symptoms Of The Complicated Grief?
Symptoms of complicated grief look very similar to those of typical grief. The difference is that symptoms of typical grief gradually lessen over time, whereas complicated grief symptoms persist or increase with time. Some of these symptoms include intense sorrow and pain, rumination, little ability to focus on anything other than the loss, intense and persistent longing, struggling to accept the loss, numbness, bitterness, and excessive focus on/avoidance of reminders of the loss.
