Mental Health Treatment Options Available Through Lyra Health Benefits

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Dealing with a mental health challenge can feel heavy and exhausting. When you are already upset or stressed, trying to figure out health insurance can feel way too hard. If your employer gives you health benefits through Lyra Health, you may have a resource that can help you access mental health support. Lyra Health is made to connect people with high-quality mental health support that fits your needs.

Mental health support is important because mental health conditions are common. In fact, nearly 25% of adults and 20% of teens in the U.S. live with a mental or behavioral health condition. Despite how common these struggles are, many people wait years before seeking treatment due to cost, access or uncertainty about where to start.

Despite how common these struggles are, many people wait years before seeking treatment due to cost, access or uncertainty about where to start

Learning about your options is the best first step toward feeling better. Lyra Health aims to reduce these common barriers to clinical care by offering:

  • Care matching — Members complete an online assessment that helps identify appropriate care options
  • Provider networks — Members are connected directly with pre-vetted therapists, psychiatrists or intensive treatment programs
  • Flexible care options — Many employer plans include a mix of virtual and in-person services
  • Coverage for higher levels of care — Structured support is available when traditional weekly therapy sessions do not feel like enough

At Lightfully Behavioral Health, we work with Lyra Health to help you get the exact amount of care you need. This partnership helps individuals start care earlier and access support that fits their unique needs.

Signs that more support may help

Some people benefit from weekly outpatient therapy alone. Others may need more structured support during stressful or overwhelming periods.

These experiences don’t automatically mean someone has a diagnosable condition. However, if symptoms continue or become harder to manage, professional support may help. You may want to seek a higher level of care if you or your teen are experiencing:

  • Persistent anxiety or panic
  • Depression affecting daily functioning
  • Emotional overwhelm or burnout
  • Difficulty managing relationships
  • Trauma-related symptoms
  • School or work struggles
  • Trouble completing daily responsibilities
  • Increased isolation or withdrawal

A clinical assessment can help determine whether outpatient therapy, PHP, IOP or Residential Treatment may be the best fit.

If you or a loved one are struggling with thoughts of self-harm, suicide or feel unable to keep yourself safe, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or call 911 for immediate support.

Explore levels of care at Lightfully

Your Lyra Health benefits may cover higher levels of care based on your symptoms. These programs let you take a break from daily stress to focus completely on getting well. Lightfully offers several care paths to match your needs, such as:

  • Residential Treatment Centers (RTC)

Residential Treatment provides structured mental health care in a supportive, home-like setting with 24/7 support.

This level of care may help people who need more structure and support than outpatient therapy can provide.

Residential care may include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Medication management
  • Psychiatry services
  • Skill-building groups
  • Daily routines and emotional support

Residential care focuses on emotional safety, coping skills and stabilization.

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Partial Hospitalization Program, also called PHP or Day Treatment, provides intensive mental health support during the day while allowing people to return home or to supportive housing at night.

PHP often includes treatment several hours a day, multiple days each week.

PHP may help people who:

  • Need daily support but not hospital-based care
  • Are stepping down from Residential Treatment
  • Need more support than weekly therapy provides

Treatment may include:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Psychiatry services
  • Skills training
  • Emotional regulation support

Lightfully also offers Virtual Partial Hospitalization Program (vPHP) for eligible adults who need structured virtual support.

  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive Outpatient Program, also called IOP, offers a lower level of structure than PHP while still providing consistent clinical support.

IOP may work well for people who are balancing treatment with work, school or family responsibilities.

IOP may include:

  • Group therapy several days each week
  • Individual therapy sessions
  • Coping skill development
  • Support for anxiety, depression and emotional stress

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (vIOP) may also be available for some adults.

Teen treatment options

Teenagers face unique developmental stressors that may benefit from hands-on, face-to-face support. Lightfully Teen offers two highly structured, in-person treatment paths for teens:

  • Teen Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Teen PHP provides structured daytime treatment for adolescents who need more support than weekly therapy alone.

Treatment may include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Academic support coordination
  • Emotional regulation skill-building
  • Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Teen IOP offers continued clinical support while allowing teens to maintain parts of their normal routines, including school and family life.

Teen IOP may focus on:

  • Coping skills
  • Emotional awareness
  • Peer relationships
  • Communication skills
  • Family involvement
