Your mental health affects every part of your life, from your work performance to your personal relationships. At Lightfully, we think treatments should also take your whole life into account — not just your diagnosis or your symptoms. When you’re facing multiple challenges at once and struggling to cope, we’re here to help.
The good news is you don’t have to face this alone. First Choice Health, an insurance company that offers other employee benefits in the Pacific Northwest, offers in-network coverage for treatment at Lightfully Behavioral Health to meet your mental health needs.
Read on to learn about the different mental health treatment levels of care we have available at Lightfully for First Choice Health members, as well as what sets us apart from other providers.
4 mental health treatment options available for First Choice Health members through Lightfully
The level of care you begin with will depend on your symptoms and how they’re affecting your life. Many of our clients begin at higher levels of care and then “step down” as they start feeling better and applying their new skills. The amount of time you spend in treatment will decrease as you go. You might start with full days of treatment five days a week for several weeks, then go down to three days a week. Finally, you might finish your treatment with a few virtual sessions per week.
First Choice Health members can use their benefits to help cover the cost of treatment. At all our locations, we are an in-network mental health care provider for First Choice Health. We also accept insurance plans from other major insurers, including Kaiser Permanente, Anthem and IEHP.
We offer the following four levels of care, and all four levels are available to First Choice Health members:
- Residential Treatment Center (RTC) — Our RTCs are located in the Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks and San Diego, California, areas. These facilities provide clients with 24-hour care where they can focus solely on their treatment and mental health needs. They are beautifully designed, supportive and tranquil treatment settings. Treatment in our RTCs includes three individual sessions per week and up to five group sessions daily. You’ll also have weekly family sessions and weekly sessions with our staff psychiatrist, if needed. You’ll receive an individualized weekly treatment plan and the chance to meet with your whole treatment team.
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) — Our PHP provides you with supportive and structured care during the day while you return home each night. We also sometimes call it our Day Treatment Program. PHP provides you with similar treatment and services as our residential care, including an individualized treatment plan. However, you have more opportunities to practice your new skills. Sessions are six to seven hours long on weekdays. Our PHPs also include two individual sessions weekly with your primary therapist and several group treatments each day. You’ll go to weekly family sessions, weekly sessions with our staff psychiatrist, and meetings with your whole treatment team every other week.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — Our IOP provides partial-day treatment for clients who are dealing with mental health disorders. Sessions include three to six hours of programming a day. Each client receives different treatments according to their individualized weekly treatment plan. The program includes a weekly session with your primary therapist, ongoing family therapy, daily group sessions and monthly meetings with your whole treatment team.
- Virtual Programs (vPHP/vIOP) — We believe mental health care treatment should be accessible even with busy schedules. Our vIOP helps our clients receive quality treatment online that meets their needs and schedules. It can provide a careful balance of support and autonomy for those transitioning from higher levels of care. Or it can be a welcoming and supportive environment with peer support for those who are new to therapy. You’ll attend three to six hours of treatment per day in a small group of 10 clients or fewer. You’ll have an individualized treatment plan and work with your primary therapist each week. Treatment plans also include ongoing family therapy and a monthly meeting with your whole treatment team.
At Lightfully, we believe in continued support even after your treatment plan has ended. We offer continued alumni services with resources, tips, support and support group offerings each month.
What makes Lightfully different?
What makes us different from other mental health providers? We’ll get to our unique clinical model and treatment outcomes in a moment. Our culture is guided by seven shining commitments we make to our clients, which are values we encourage everyone to embrace. These include:
- Sparkle — To reflect light and perform brilliantly
- Wabi sabi — To appreciate beauty and accept imperfection
- Compassion — To approach with empathy and kindness
- Clear is kind — To communicate directly in the spirit of growth
- Be brave — To choose courage over comfort
- Wholeheartedness — To be authentic and committed
- Grit — To show up and do hard things
We use the most effective evidence-based treatments for measurable improvement. In our first year, clients decreased their self-assessment of depression and anxiety symptoms by 41% and 45%, respectively. And 90% of clients said they would recommend treatment at Lightfully to someone else. Ratings of interactions with staff were all well above 90% as well.
Our unique clinical model, called our Precision Care Model (PCM), is at the heart of each of our programs. PCM uses evidence-based interventions from a variety of proven techniques in an integrated approach. We’re not just minimizing symptoms. We’re also building up protective factors and skills to proactively create mental wellness in a whole-person-centered approach.

We don’t only treat adults — we also have Teen program locations in San Diego. These include a Residential Treatment Center and a Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient Program.
